The accident occurred on the second power unit at 2pm MSK. The pipe at the turbine hall cracked and steam went out. It filled the room, and went beyond the power plant. Eyewitnesses have posted Internet photos of clouds above the Sosnovy Bor.
The power second unit was stopped manually. Employees were released to go home.
According to specialists, the release was radioactive. So-called reactor coolant loop contains the exhaust steam from the nuclear core.
East wind carried a cloud in the direction of Estonia and Finland.
